Updated Aaron Glenn Hot-Seat Rumors After Jets' Blowout Loss to Drake Maye, Patriots
Despite an embarrassing 42-10 loss against the New England Patriots on Sunday, New York Jets first-year head coach Aaron Glenn's job reportedly remains safe.
Albert Breer of Sports Illustrated reported on Monday, "My understanding is the Jets haven't even had discussions on letting Aaron Glenn go." He added that first-year general manager Darren Mougey "will return as well."
The Jets fell to 3-13 with a demoralizing loss in front of dejected fans at MetLife Stadium in their final home game of the year. Patriots star quarterback Drake Maye toyed with New York's defense, throwing five touchdowns in an MVP-caliber performance that helped New England clinch the AFC East for the first time since 2019, Tom Brady's final year with the team.

While Glenn and Mougey appear to be sticking around, Breer noted that other staff members could be looking for new jobs when the year is over.
"That said, there certainly could be staff changes beyond what's already happened (DC Steve Wilks was fired two weeks ago)," Breer stated. "Maybe some pointed at quarterback decision-making over the next couple of offseasons."
The Jets will have five first-round picks over the next two years, so it would be wise to give Glenn and Mougey time to execute their vision. However, if the struggles continue in 2026, their time in New York could be cut short.
