Jets Fan Misses $100K Kick in Halftime Video After Controversy Over Eligibility
After plenty of controversy surrounding the eligibility of one fan to participate in a $100,000 halftime kicking contest during Sunday's game between the New York Jets and New England Patriots, the fan did not take advantage of the opportunity,
As ESPN's Rich Cimini relayed, Ashley Castanio-Gervasi missed her field-goal attempt from 30 yards out during halftime of the contest.

On Thursday, Alex Mitchell of the New York Post reported on the situation and noted Castanio-Gervasi qualified for Sunday's contest by making a 20-yard field goal outside of a Jets game in October.
The Jets season-ticket holder was asked to join the contest when she was seen kicking during a tailgate event in September.
However, the Jets told Castanio-Gervasi, who played soccer at Stony Brook from 2010 to 2014 and is a high school soccer coach, she was ineligible to kick in the contest because of "the rules prohibited recent players and coaches from Olympic, college, and high school soccer, rugby, and football teams," per Mitchell.
She said she made the team aware she was a former college soccer player more than a decade ago but was never told anything about rules banning coaches.
"In accordance with competition rules and regulations, one individual who successfully made the qualifying kick will not be able to advance to the final stage of the challenge," the team said in a statement.
"We understand the disappointment associated with this and have made an effort to provide an alternative benefit to show our appreciation."
The Jets instead offered Castanio-Gervasi, who said winning the prize would have been "life-changing money for me," a custom team jersey and a $100 Visa gift card.
However, the team changed course Friday after the situation made headlines and issued a statement.
"We realized there was an unfortunate misunderstanding regarding Ashley's eligibility for the contest," the statement said. "In an effort to remedy the situation, we are allowing her to kick this Sunday for an opportunity to win the prize. We value the passion and loyalty of our fans and are committed to creating memorable experiences."
Unfortunately for Castanio-Gervasi, she did not make the kick.
