Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
Rivers hadn't played in the NFL since the 2020 season when the Colts reached out to him after injuries to Daniel Jones and Anthony Richardson.
The 44-year-old, who has coached high school football in the years between NFL appearances, seized the opportunity to return. Sunday will be his third start after he completed 66.1 percent of his passes for 397 yards, three touchdowns and two interceptions against the Seattle Seahawks and San Francisco 49ers.
"Maybe it will inspire or teach them not to run or be scared of what may or may not happen," Rivers told reporters after the Seahawks game. "Hopefully, certainly, I think of my sons and those ballplayers that I'm in charge of at the school, that they'll see, 'Crap, Coach wasn't scared.' There is doubt, and it's real, and again, the guaranteed safe bet is to not go for it. The other one is 'Shoot, let's see what happens.'"
Now those players will get the opportunity to see him take the field in person Sunday.
