How Much Money Will Laveranues Coles Make as Officer After Earning $42M in NFL Career?
Laveranues Coles' NFL career came to an 16 years ago, but the former Pro Bowl wide receiver is now pursuing a new kind of career.
Coles is now a police officer with the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office in his hometown in Florida. The new career isn't something he got into because he needed the money. After making $42 million in his NFL career, he'll make $68,472 as a member of the academy's field training program before making $70,032 after one year of service, per ESPN's Rich Cimini.
According to Cimini, Coles opted for a career as a police officer "to add purpose to his life, to help his community and to help those who remind him of his younger self."

Coles, a third-round pick in the 2000 NFL draft out of Florida State, spent the first three years of his career with the New York Jets, had a two-year stint with Washington, and returned to the Jets from 2005 to 2008. He finished his career with the Cincinnati Bengals in 2009.
After racking up 8,609 yards and 49 touchdown in his 10-year career, Coles is now looking to make just as much of an impact off the field.
