Jordan Love, Malik Willis' Injury Statuses for Packers vs. Vikings Updated By LaFleur

Paul KasabianJan 1, 2026

Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love has cleared concussion protocol but will not play Sunday against the Minnesota Vikings, Packers head coach Matt LaFleur told reporters Thursday.

The Packers will instead turn to third-string quarterback Clayton Tune to start Week 18, per LaFleur.

Love's regular backup, Malik Willis, is dealing with a hamstring injury.

LaFleur said Desmond Ridder, who was signed to the practice squad Wednesday, could potentially back up Tune. He added, however, that the Packers' "intent is not to play" Love.

"As far as the backup, we're kind of working through that process right now... we're just kind of taking it a day at a time," LaFleur said.

Love suffered a concussion after taking a helmet-to-helmet hit from Chicago Bears defensive end Austin Booker during his team's 22-16 loss on Saturday, Dec. 20.

He was limited at practice all week leading into his team's Dec. 27 home game against the Baltimore Ravens before being ruled out.

Love is in his third season as Green Bay's starter after sitting three years behind starter Aaron Rodgers. He had completed 66.3 percent of his passes for 3,381 yards, 23 touchdowns and six interceptions while rushing for 199 yards.

Willis is the Packers' backup quarterback and replaced Love during the Bears game. He fared quite well, completing 9-of-11 passes for 121 yards and a score and rushing for 44 yards on 10 attempts. He also got the call to start for Love against the Ravens and dominated with 288 passing yards and a touchdown while adding 60 rushing yards and two more scores.

Both Willis and Love will sit out the regular season finale in favor of Tune, who made his regular-season NFL debut late in the Week 17 loss to the Ravens.

The Packers have clinched the No. 7 seed in the AFC and will open the playoffs on the road against either the Chicago Bears or Philadelphia Eagles.
