Chiefs' Chris Jones Sends Message to Travis Kelce Amid NFL Retirement Rumors

Andrew PetersDec 26, 2025

Chris Jones isn't ready for Travis Kelce to call it a career just yet.

The Kansas City Chiefs defensive tackle sent a message to Kelce after what could be the tight end's final game at Arrowhead Stadium.

"We've been through so much together," Jones told reporters. "Just one more (season). Just one more."

With the Chiefs' season nearing its end, the question in Kansas City is whether Kelce will retire or continue his career beyond the 2025 campaign. Nobody would blame the 36-year-old if he decided to hang up his cleats, considering he's already had a tremendous career, but retiring now wouldn't exactly be going out on the best terms.

The Chiefs missed the playoffs for the first time since Kelce's second year in the NFL. The quarterback he's spent most of his career with, Patrick Mahomes, tore his ACL earlier this month, which means Kelce's final catch will come from another quarterback.

If Kelce follows Jones' advice and plays one more season, he could end his career on a more positive note. Either way, he'll be remembered as one of the best tight ends in NFL history.
