Bo Nix Makes History, Wows NFL Fans as Broncos Beat Travis Kelce, Chiefs on Christmas

Zach BacharDec 26, 2025

Bo Nix helped the Denver Broncos avoid an upset loss to Travis Kelce and a Kansas City Chiefs squad without Patrick Mahomes on Christmas Day, securing a 20-13 win.

With the Chiefs attempting to tie the game late in the fourth quarter, a pass into the end zone from quarterback Chris Oladokun fell incomplete on fourth down.

Nix finished 26-of-38 for 182 yards and one touchdown to go along with one interception. He also rushed for 42 yards and a score on nine attempts.

Nix recorded his 54th career passing touchdown, the third-most by a quarterback across their first two seasons in NFL history.

Fans, pundits and former players were impressed with his performance.

Thursday's game was largely a defensive battle, as the only touchdown scored in the first half came on a Kansas City drive that started at Denver's 35-yard line following an interception by Nix.

The Chiefs held a 7-6 edge at halftime and extended their lead to 10-6 early in the third quarter, but the Broncos finally jumped back in front after Nix found the end zone on a nine-yard scramble.

Kansas City tied the game again with a field goal, but a one-yard touchdown reception by RJ Harvey with just under two minutes remaining in the fourth quarter was ultimately too much for the Chiefs to overcome.

Harvey ended the game with 76 all-purpose yards and a score on 19 touches.

Nix spread the ball around throughout the win, completing passes to eight different players.

Oladokun made his first career start following Mahomes' torn ACL and backup quarterback Gardner Minshew's knee injury, finishing 13-of-22 for 66 yards and a touchdown.

As for Kelce, he hauled in five receptions for 36 yards on six targets.

While the Chiefs were already eliminated from playoff contention prior to Thursday's contest, the Broncos improved to 13-3 and remained atop the AFC standings.
