Dak Prescott Leads Cowboys Past Commanders, Fans Slam Matt Eberflus amid Hot Seat Buzz
It has been a season to forget for the Dallas Cowboys, but they can at least take solace knowing they swept their two games against the rival Washington Commanders.
Dallas defeated Washington 30-23 in Thursday's Christmas Day NFC East showdown at Northwest Stadium to improve to 7-8-1. The Cowboys snapped a three-game losing streak in the process, while the Commanders continued their downfall since their 3-2 start and fell to 4-12.
Dak Prescott went 19-of-37 passing for 307 yards, two touchdowns and zero interceptions with KaVontae Turpin and Jake Ferguson hauling in the scores. Javonte Williams and Malik Davis added a combined 157 yards and one touchdown on the ground in a balanced offensive attack for the victors.

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
Josh Johnson was forced into starting duty for the Commanders and went 15-of-23 passing for 198 yards, zero touchdowns and zero interceptions. While Dallas' much maligned defense kept him in check, it was a different story with Jacory Croskey-Merritt.
He ran for 105 yards and two touchdowns, which only drew more critical reaction for Cowboys defensive coordinator Matt Eberflus as he remains on the hot seat:
While both teams have been eliminated from the playoff race and are playing out the string on a lost season, the Cowboys were in better position for Thursday's contest since the Commanders were down to their third quarterback in Johnson with Jayden Daniels and Marcus Mariota sidelined.
The visitors wasted no time setting the tone with touchdowns on their first three possessions. Prescott found Ferguson for a score on the opening drive, Williams finished the second one in the end zone and Turpin broke free for an 86-yard touchdown on the third.
While it seemed like Dallas was in full control in the early going, Croskey-Merritt had other ideas. His touchdown run was the biggest bright spot for Washington in the first half, and then he exploded through the line for a 72-yard touchdown to cut the deficit to seven in the third quarter.
The Commanders remained within striking distance as the two sides traded field goals, especially when Brandon Aubrey missed one in the fourth quarter.
However, Prescott engineered a 14-play drive that lasted nearly eight minutes and drained the majority of the remaining clock away. Aubrey bounced back from his earlier miss with a 51-yard field goal, which extended the advantage to two scores before the Cowboys clinched it with multiple late first downs.
It was yet another disappointing result for the Commanders, who will finish their season on the road against the Philadelphia Eagles.
Dallas is also heading on the road to face the New York Giants.
