NFL Insider Talks HC Candidate That Has 'A Ton of Juice' in 2026 Cycle Amid Rumors
Davis Webb is just 30 years old and not far removed from playing in the NFL as a quarterback in 2022.
But he could be a head coach as soon as next season.
NFL insider Jordan Schultz reported Tuesday that Webb, who is the quarterbacks coach for the Denver Broncos, is "a name that has a ton of juice going into this head-coaching cycle" that doesn't necessarily have a headliner like last year's did:

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
Webb entered the NFL as a third-round draft pick in 2017 but appeared in just two games during his career with the New York Giants. He lost his only career start in 2022 but quickly became a coach upon retirement.
Schultz pointed out he "works very closely with" Broncos head coach Sean Payton, who has long been considered an excellent offensive coach. What's more, Webb has made a "massive impact on Bo Nix's development."
Denver selected Nix with the No. 12 overall pick in the 2024 NFL draft, and he led the AFC West team to the playoffs as a rookie. The Broncos are also among the best teams in the league in his second season while he is completing 63.2 percent of his passes for 3,608 yards, 24 touchdowns and 10 interceptions.
While Webb, who joined the Broncos' staff ahead of the 2023 campaign after retirement, would be a nontraditional hire given his age and lack of experience, perhaps an NFL team will see what he has done with Nix and his close work with someone as established as Payton and take a chance.
Considering the Chicago Bears (Ben Johnson), Jacksonville Jaguars (Liam Coen) and New England Patriots (Mike Vrabel) have experienced dramatic turnarounds in the first year following a coaching change, other struggling teams will surely look to make a similar impact hire this offseason.
Webb's offensive prowess could be just what a team looking for a boost needs.
