Philip Rivers to Start vs. Jaguars, Colts' Updated NFL Playoff Bracket Scenarios, Odds
Indianapolis Colts head coach Shane Steichen confirmed that Philip Rivers will remain the team's starting quarterback heading into a Week 17 matchup with the Jacksonville Jaguars, per ESPN's Jeremy Fowler.
The Colts sit at 8-7 and their playoff chances are slim, as they'd be eliminated from postseason contention with a loss or tie against the Jaguars as well as a win or tie by the Houston Texans.
Indianapolis is coming off a 48-27 defeat at the hands of the San Francisco 49ers on Monday, marking its fifth consecutive loss.

The Colts also own a 1-6 record following their promising 7-1 start to the year.
Rivers is set to make his third appearance for Indianapolis following Daniel Jones' season-ending torn Achilles that he suffered in Week 14, leading to the team bringing the 44-year-old out of retirement.
Rivers understandably showed signs of rust in his first start since the 2020 season, throwing for 120 yards and one touchdown to go along with one interception while averaging 4.4 yards per attempt in an 18-16 loss to the Seattle Seahawks.
He found more rhythm in the pocket against San Francisco, though.
Rivers completed 65.7 percent of his passes for 277 yards and two touchdowns while getting picked off once on Monday, averaging 7.9 yards per attempt.
With the Colts still mathematically alive in the AFC playoff hunt, Steichen appears to feel more comfortable sticking with the veteran instead of going with younger options including Riley Leonard and Anthony Richardson.
Kickoff between Indianapolis and Jacksonville is on Sunday at 1 p.m. ET.
