According to the Mirror's Jack Lang, the striker was omitted from Spurs' 25-man Premier League squad for the new campaign, and he was linked with moves to West Ham United and Aston Villa over the summer.
The Mirror's Darren Lewis reported the 31-year-old failed to secure a move after demanding a huge pay-off from Spurs. However, now a free agent, it's possible Villa or the Hammers could renew their interest in him.
After falling out of favour at White Hart Lane under the tutelage of Mauricio Pochettino, the gangly forward will feel as though he has something to prove. Bleacher Report’s Sam Tighe thinks that bodes well for any potential suitors:

Adebayor is an imposing target man who possesses excellent link-up ability, a mean aerial presence and a cool head in front of goal. But there’s a reputation for laziness that has accompanied the Togolese star throughout his career.
Aston Villa boss Tim Sherwood is the manager who has handled him the best in recent years, as noted here by Ben McAleer of WhoScored.com:
He’s not a long-term solution, but Adebayor could certainly help West Ham's Premier League ambitions. After all, he’s one of the most experienced forwards in the league, and he would be working under Slaven Bilic, a manager who needs a fast start to his career in England if he's to get the club's supporters onside.
Likewise, reuniting with Sherwood could prove beneficial as the manager clearly has faith in his ability.
But, as has been the case at Arsenal, City and Spurs, Adebayor usually fizzles out after an initial burst. He'll need to hit the ground running at his new home when he finds one and prove he was worth taking a risk on.
