Brock Purdy Had 'Pretty Close to a Perfect Game' While Making History, Says 49ers HC
San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan had strong praise for quarterback Brock Purdy after Monday night's 48-27 win over the Indianapolis Colts.
"He did awesome," Shanahan told reporters. "He played really well. I got on him for a couple [throws] he missed, but it was pretty close to a perfect game."
Purdy finished 25-of-34 for 295 yards, five touchdowns and an interception as the Niners shredded Indianapolis' defense.

The five TDs and the margin of victory both helped to put Purdy in select company:
The 2023 Pro Bowler was sidelined for six games earlier in the campaign because of a toe injury. His return in Week 11 helped to spark a five-game winning streak, and he has been lights out over that span.
Purdy has 1,151 yards and 13 touchdowns through the air with a 110.0 passer rating in San Francisco's last five contests. Though he had three picks in Week 12 against the Carolina Panthers, the Niners still prevailed by 11 points.
The 25-year-old contrasted his mindset now with how he handled all of the attention during his breakout two seasons ago. He cited specifically a 33-19 loss to the Baltimore Ravens on Christmas Day, when he threw four interceptions, to make his point.
"[I'm] not letting the environment or the situation of the season and the game dictate how I go out and think throughout a game," he said. "I feel like right now, I've got to be my best one play at a time. That Christmas game a couple years ago it was like, 'Man, we're on Christmas, Monday night, MVP talk, like hit a couple of completions early in the game and felt good.'
"And then after that, I'm getting complacent with going through my reads and stuff and making the right decisions. [I] definitely have learned from that, but there's always still room for improvement."
The lack of a true Super Bowl favorite is among the talking points throughout this season. A case could be made for a lot of teams to be the one lifting the Lombardi Trophy at Levi's Stadium on Feb. 8.
With Purdy playing this well, it might finally be San Francisco's time.
