WWE NXT: Full Preview, Match Card and More for July 29

The Doctor Chris MuellerJul 29, 2015

Welcome to Bleacher Report's preview for this week's episode of WWE NXT, where we take a spoiler-free look at what's in store for the developmental brand's upcoming episode.

This week will feature a packed card with six matches, three of which involve the tag team division and its attempt to foster new talent after losing a few key teams to the main roster.

With NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn coming up on August 22, we can expect to start seeing more matches added to the show.

We already know Kevin Owens will have his rematch for the NXT Championship against Finn Balor. That leaves a lot of room for more Superstars in what could be the biggest event in NXT history.

Let's take a look at what's on tap for Wednesday's show.

The Women

Only one match from the women's division will take place this week, and it will be between Charlotte and Dana Brooke.

Charlotte is officially a member of the main roster and no longer in pursuit of the Women's Championship, so winning this bout will do nothing for her.

Brooke, on the other hand, could gain quite a bit from a victory in this situation. Charlotte is one of the most beloved and recognizable names to come out of the NXT women's division, so it would be a big feather in Brooke's cap if she were to win.

With the Divas revolution taking place on the main roster, we can expect to see the women in the developmental system step up even more than they already have to ensure they continue the legacy left by Charlotte, Sasha Banks and Becky Lynch.

Brooke is relatively new to the scene, but she has shown a lot of promise in a short amount of time. Hopefully, she manages to live up to her potential.

The Men

Two singles matches are scheduled for Wednesday's show. Unfortunately, both of them sound like squash matches.

Both Baron Corbin and Owens will be taking on unknown jobbers. While it's not surprising to see Corbin in this situation, it's a little weird that Owens is being put in this kind of matchup.

He has a title shot coming up in a few weeks, but there is absolutely no point in having Owens beat some unknown wrestler we may never see again.

It might make him look dangerous, but we have already seen just how brutal Owens can be on several occasions against the likes of John Cena, Sami Zayn and Balor.

The only thing we can hope to get out of these two matches is some quick entertainment because the outcomes will be anything but surprising.

The Tag Teams

The first of the three tag team matches set to take place will feature Enzo Amore and Colin Cassady going up against Scott Dawson and Dash Wilder.

Until recently, Wilder and Dawson were little more than enhancement talent in NXT. They have proved to be decent hands in the ring, but the only reason they are being used more often is because the tag team division was becoming weak.

Dawson and Wilder might find success as a duo, but only time will tell. Amore and Cassady are over with the crowd and likely on their way to the main roster before the end of the year, so it's anyone's guess as to who walks out with the win in this one.

The second tag match will see two more new teams square off when Jason Jordan and Chad Gable battle Elias Samson and Manny Garcia.

Garcia is one of the new recruits who was signed to NXT a few months ago, and this will be his first real chance to show off what he is capable of.

Considering Gable and Jordan have been used quite a bit in recent weeks, they will probably get the victory, but it's always possible WWE will try to build several new teams at once and give Samson and Garcia the win.

The third and final tag team contest will be the most important. Wesley Blake and Buddy Murphy will defend the NXT Tag Team Championships against The Vaudevillains.

It has been just over six months since Team BAMF won the belts from Sin Cara and Kalisto, and in that time, they have proved themselves to be a talented and entertaining act.

Simon Gotch and Aiden English took a bit of a back seat for a few months, so this is their big chance to show everyone they deserve to be at the top of the division.

Winning their first titles in NXT would help them get on the right track, but Team BAMF might not be ready to let go of the championships.

Whoever ends up leaving with the belts will almost certainly have to defend them at the next TakeOver event, so even if The Vaudevillains don't win this week, they may get another shot soon.

What are you looking forward to on this week's episode of NXT?
