Latest News on Lamar Jackson's Status for Ravens vs. Packers amid Back Injury

Joseph ZuckerDec 27, 2025

Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson is out for his team's Saturday evening matchup at the Green Bay Packers with a back injury.

The two-time NFL MVP had to exit his team's 28-24 loss to the New England Patriots with the ailment. Head coach John Harbaugh described it as "a bruise of some kind" but was unsure of the severity.

Tyler Huntley, who replaced Jackson, was an efficient 9-of-10 for 65 yards through the air, but that wasn't enough to help the Ravens avoid their eighth defeat of the season.

Jackson has already missed three games in 2025, but that doesn't fully explain Baltimore's record. The team is .500 (6-6) with him under center.

In general, there's a growing sense the Harbaugh era may have run its course.

Coming up short against the Patriots was costly for the Ravens because it widened the gap on the first-place Pittsburgh Steelers to two games in the AFC North.

Especially with so much on the line, Jackson was aiming to suit up for Baltimore's Week 17 clash with the Packers.

"Yeah, that's the goal," he told reporters Sunday night. "We're going to do a little [MRI] scan [Monday] and then see what it shows."

The truth is, Jackson's lack of availability may not matter. The Ravens simply don't look like a playoff team right now, and that's irrespective of whether they have their star quarterback.
