Barry Sanders Reacts to Lions' Jahmyr Gibbs Breaking His NFL TD Record to Start Career
Jahmyr Gibbs made history on Sunday, and he passed up a Detroit Lions legend in the process.
Gibbs recorded his 48th career touchdown in Sunday's loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers, giving him the most touchdowns by a player in their first three seasons in NFL history. The record was previously held by Barry Sanders.
"I am so happy for Jahmyr, and his teammates," Sanders told ESPN. "It is really incredible when you think he was able to score so many times with so many other weapons on offense. AND he is not done yet I hope. It is a real testament to his ability to consistently create big plays."

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value ๐
Gibbs, a first-round draft pick in 2023, has enjoyed a tremendous start to his NFL career. After a solid rookie year, he recorded 1,412 rushing yards and 16 touchdowns in 2024. This season, he's recorded 1,102 rushing yards and 13 touchdowns.
Sanders, who is widely considered to be one of the best running backs of all time, clearly thinks Gibbs has what it takes to be an all-time great, and Gibbs will look to follow in his footsteps.
