Shedeur Sanders Reacts to Finger Injury on Video After Browns' Loss to Bills

Andrew PetersDec 21, 2025

Shedeur Sanders dealt with an injury on Sunday, but luckily it wasn't a serious one.

The Cleveland Browns rookie was forced to exit Sunday's contest against the Buffalo Bills because of a pinky injury.

"You can look online and see what my finger looks like if you want," Sanders said. "I'm sure they've got the details on there. I don't know, my pinky just—I put on my handwarmer and was like, 'Why's my pinky not getting warm?'"

He added that he wanted to get back on the field so second string quarterback Dillon Gabriel wasn't thrust into a "bad situation" and said that he wouldn't have returned if he couldn't throw.

"I did everything to come back because I didn't want to put Dillon (Gabriel) in a bad situation since I was a two," Sanders said.

Sanders had a subpar day in his fifth start, throwing for 157 yards, a touchdown and a pair of interceptions on 20-of-29 passing. Cleveland trailed by just three points heading into the final two minutes of the game, but Sanders took a sack and threw an incompletion that led to a punt from the Browns, and they lost 23-20.

He said after the game that the pinky injury didn't impact his throwing ability.

Sanders spent most of the season serving as the backup quarterback, but made his debut in November after Gabriel suffered a concussion. He then started the following week and has remained under center ever since.

In six games, he's throwing for 1,103 yards, six touchdowns and eight interceptions, completing 55.1 percent of his passes. He had an outstanding game two weeks ago, throwing for 364 yards and three touchdowns against the Tennessee Titans, but he hasn't been able to recreate that success in his last two outings.

Sanders, a fifth-round draft pick, still has plenty of work to do, but he's shown flashes of potential since taking over as QB1. The 3-12 Browns will close out the season against the Pittsburgh Steelers and Cincinnati Bengals, and Sanders will look to end his rookie season on a positive note.
