Shedeur Sanders Injured vs. Bills, Latest Updates on Browns QB's Status

Scott PolacekDec 21, 2025

Every opportunity for Shedeur Sanders to put something on tape is important during his rookie season, but he was forced to exit with a pinky injury during the first half of Sunday's 23-20 loss against the Buffalo Bills.

The Cleveland Browns signal-caller headed off the field with a bloody finger:

Yet he wasn't out for long and returned before the end of the half.

That Sanders returned was a welcome sign for the Browns, as Dillion Gabriel took a sack to end a promising drive after the starter exited.

Cleveland had to settle for a field goal after reaching the Bills' 4-yard line, which cut the deficit to 13-10.

Overall, Sanders went 20-of-29 for 157 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions in the loss.

Sanders returning also meant he would continue to have an opportunity to bounce back from his disappointing showing the last time out against the Chicago Bears. He went 18-of-35 passing for 177 yards, zero touchdowns and three interceptions in a 31-3 loss.

He also took five sacks as the offense failed to find the end zone.

The Colorado product's start against the Bills was better considering he threw a touchdown pass to Harold Fannin Jr. to open the scoring in the first five minutes.

Fortunately for the rookie and Browns, he avoided a significant injury and returned so he could attempt to continue building on the early touchdown pass.
