Latest Breece Hall Rumors on Jets' Contract Stance Ahead of 2026 NFL Free Agency

Scott PolacekDec 21, 2025

New York Jets running back Breece Hall is set for free agency during the upcoming offseason, and the AFC East reportedly wants to re-sign him.

But there are questions about what type of contract the 24-year-old will be able to command.

ESPN's Rich Cimini reported Sunday "the Jets want him back" but also added "at what price?" given Hall's overall struggles down the stretch of the 2025 campaign.

"Hall is sputtering toward the finish—only 134 yards on 45 carries over the last three games," Cimini wrote. "His average of three yards per carry ranks 22nd out of 23 players with at least 40 carries in that span.

"He's 100 yards shy of his first 1,000-yard season. It would be a major disappointment if he falls short of that milestone, considering he once was on a 1,200-yard pace. Numbers matter at the negotiating table, especially for a running back."

The timing of the late-season struggles is not ideal for Hall since he is headed for free agency, but he is still just 24 years old and has proven rather durable of late after overcoming a torn ACL as a rookie in 2022.

He appeared in 17 games in 2023, 16 games in 2024 and the first 14 games this season. And while he has never run for 1,000 yards in a season to this point, he has surpassed that mark in total yards from scrimmage in all three of those campaigns.

Hall's ability to contribute in the aerial attack helped him rack up 1,585 yards from scrimmage in 2023, 1,359 in 2024 and 1,223 to this point in 2025.

Still, his future with the Jets has been a question throughout the season.

They didn't trade him ahead of the deadline despite speculation they would, which led to a notable deleted tweet since New York did trade defensive stars Quinnen Williams and Sauce Gardner:

Whether the Jets decide to bring Hall back will be one of the most prominent offseason storylines surrounding the AFC East team, and it doesn't seem like there are any definitive answers about what kind of contract he will land at this point of the process.
