What Jake Elliott Said About Missed FGs in Eagles' Win vs. Commanders Amid Struggles

Philadelphia Eagles kicker Jake Elliott said Saturday he doesn't know exactly what to address in order to correct his struggles with kicking field goals.

Elliott missed three field goal attempts, including one try that was wiped out due to an offside call on the Washington Commanders, during the Eagles' Week 16 win Saturday night.

That included a potential game-tying 52-yard kick in the final seconds of the first half.

"It's just frustrating. I hit the ball well pre-game, and feel like I had a good plan, and then I don't go through in the game... I've gotta figure some stuff out," Elliott said (h/t NFL Network's Mike Garafolo).

Elliott, who went into Saturday's game ranked 33rd in the NFL with a 77.3 field goal percentage, was asked after the Eagles came back to win in the second half if he felt his struggles have been "mental."

"No. No, honestly, not at all," Elliott answered. "So that's kind of what's frustrating about it, is I don't feel like that at all. I kind of wish it was. Easier to fix.

"It's something I'll have to go take a deep dive on, and watch the film. And no one's harder on themselves than myself."

Elliott was then asked about the possibility the Eagles, who clinched the NFC East title with Saturday's win, could look for another option at kicker ahead of the postseason.

"I understand it's a production-based business," Elliott answered. "You see it all the time. So, that's out of my hands. That's out of my control. All I can do is kind of put my head down and keep pushing."

Elliott, who has served as the Eagles' kicker since 2017, played key roles in the team's title wins in both 2017 and 2024. He stands as the most accurate field goal kicker in Super Bowl history after going 9-for-9 in three appearances.

Whether Elliott is able to improve during the Eagles' final two games of the regular season against the Buffalo Bills and Commanders, however, could potentially determine if he gets the opportunity to go on an eighth career playoff run with his longtime team.
