Jairus Byrd Injury: Updates on Saints Safety's Status and Return
The New Orleans Saints placed safety Jairus Byrd on the physically unable to perform list prior to the start of training camp, but the team announced he's active for Week 4.
Since signing a six-year, $54 million deal that included $26.3 million guaranteed in March 2014, as noted by Spotrac, Byrd has been hounded by the injury bug.
Two months after signing the lucrative contract, he underwent surgery to repair a disc issue in his back. He then suffered a knee injury four games into his inaugural season in the Big Easy. In those four appearances, he recorded 22 tackles and a forced fumble.

Jaguars' Hypothetical Alvin Kamara Trade Offer
All told, the Saints finished the 2014 season ranked 25th in opponent net passing yards (4,019) while allowing 26 touchdowns through the air.
Getting Byrd back in the fold should make their defense more dangerous as they look to improve from allowing 28 points per game through the first three weeks of the season.
