Latest News on Garrett Wilson's Injury Timeline After Jets' Glenn Updates WR's Status

New York Jets wide receiver Garrett Wilson has been shut down for the remainder of the 2025 season.

Jets coach Aaron Glenn provided the update on Wilson when speaking with reporters Friday ahead of Sunday's matchup with the New Orleans Saints.

"He will be ready to go as the offseason program starts up," Glenn said about Wilson.

Wilson has been sidelined with a knee injury since Nov. 9. He will finish his fourth NFL season having recorded 36 catches for 395 receiving yards and four receiving touchdowns in seven games.

Glenn said Friday that Wilson was "on board" with the decision to keep him on the sideline for the remainder of the season.

"He's doing really, really well as far as his rehab. We just want to be smart with him, because he's a key cog of what we're doing here," Glenn said. "And to be able to get him back in the offseason program, fully healthy, ready to go, we felt like that was the best decision for all of us."

Wilson is set to play the 2026 season on the final year of his rookie contract. He already agreed to a four-year, $130 million extension, featuring $90 million in guarantees and extending his deal through the 2030 season, back in July.

The 25-year-old first suffered his knee injury on Oct. 12 during a Week 6 loss to the Denver Broncos in London.

He returned to the lineup in Week 10, but played just 19 snaps before exiting the Nov. 9 win over the Cleveland Browns.

Wilson will now finish out the season on the injured reserve, where he was placed back on Nov. 13.

The Jets have been eliminated from playoff contention since a Week 14 loss to the Miami Dolphins.

After Sunday's matchup with the Saints, the Jets are set to play the New England Patriots at home on Dec. 28 before closing out the season against the Buffalo Bills in a Jan. 4 matchup on the road.

Brady Cook will have to continue playing without Wilson as the rookie quarterback prepares to make his second straight start in what could be an audition for a bigger role on the 2026 roster this weekend.
