Paul KasabianDec 19, 2025

Two SEC teams will face off for the NCAA Division I women's volleyball tournament championship after Texas A&M and Kentucky won their semifinal matches on Thursday evening at the T-Mobile Center in Kansas City, Missouri.

No. 3 seed Texas A&M took down No. 1 seed Pittsburgh 3-0 (29-27, 25-21, 25-20) in the opening match.

The first set was an incredible display, and Pitt nearly had it won after right-side hitter Olivia Babock's kill made it 27-26. However, Texas A&M got three straight points courtesy of a Kyndal Stowers kill, a Mallorie Meyer ace and another Stowers kill.

The last two sets were a little easier but still tough for the Aggies. In the end, Texas A&M got the sweep. Stowers' 16 kills led the team, with opposite hitter Logan Lednicky adding 14 kills. Setter Maddie Waak had 48 assists, and libero Ava Underwood posted eight digs. Babcock was phenomenal for Pitt with 22 total kills.

In the closing match, No. 1 seed Kentucky held off a phenomenal effort from No. 3 seed Wisconsin to win 3-2 (12-25, 25-22, 21-25, 26-24, 15-13).

UK was up 9-3 in the fifth set, but Wisconsin stormed back and cut the lead to 14-13 after back-to-back kills from outside hitter Mimi Colyer. However, a kill from UK outside hitter Eva Hudson (her 29th of the night) got the job done.

Fellow outside hitter Brooklyn Deleye added 15 kills and 14 digs. Setter Kassie O'Brien contributed 54 assists, and libero Molly Tuozzo led the team with 17 digs.

Wisconsin outside hitter Mimi Colyer had an incredible match with 32 kills to lead both teams. Middle blocker Carter Booth added 21 kills. Setter Charlie Fuerbringer posted 63 assists. Five players had 10 or more digs led by outside hitter Grace Egan's 15.

The championship will take place on Sunday at 3:30 p.m. ET. UK is looking for its second title and first since 2020. This year also marks the first time Texas A&M has made it this far, so they'll be looking for championship No. 1.

The two teams played once before this year on Oct. 8. UK won a road matchup three sets to one (21-25, 25-22, 25-15, 27-25).
