BB&T Atlanta Open 2015: Tuesday Tennis Scores, Results and Updated Draw Schedule

Four days are down in Georgia as the BB&T Atlanta Open continued its first round of play Tuesday with 10 matches.

Former Top 10 player Mardy Fish is finishing his career this summer, while some of the best finishers from last week's Hall of Fame Tennis Championships tried to replicate another solid outing.

Dudi Sela def. Mardy Fish

Fish's farewell tour has not gotten off to a great start. 

The two-time Atlanta Open winner was bounced out of the first round in straight sets by 2014 finalist Dudi Sela, 6-4, 6-4. Sela spoke with USTA South Carolina's Jonathan Braden:

Fish announced earlier in the month that the Atlanta Open is the first of three final tournaments he will be competing in, ending with the U.S. Open, which begins August 31. 

Once ranked seventh in the world, Fish has only participated in one other competitive tournament this year. 

In an evenly matched affair, though, Fish was unable to win a set, Sela used his consistency on the first set to put Fish away. Going 72 percent on the match, Sela won 12 of his first 16 points to set the tone and put the pressure on Fish. 

Fish is not quite done in Atlanta yet. He is teaming up with Andy Roddick, who is coming out of retirement to compete in the doubles tournament. 

Sam Groth def. Frances Tiafoe

Francis Tiafoe had quite the task laid ahead of him. The 17-year-old entered the tournament thanks to a wild card ranked at 274th in the world, according to Doug Roberson of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. 

He was handled by the 62nd-ranked player in the world, Sam Groth, in straight sets, though Tiafoe did put up a fight. 

Tiafoe managed to save four of six break points for the match and limited Groth to just a 22 percent success rate when it came to winning points on the serve. Unfortunately for him, he did not fare much better when Groth was serving, winning just five of a possible 40. 

Groth also used his serve to put Tiafoe on the brink, recording nine aces on the day. He's off to the second round, where he will meet Marcos Baghdatis.

Denis Kudla def. Ryan Harrison

A pair of Americans clashed in the first round and were pushed to three sets as Denis Kudla defeated Ryan Harrison 3-6, 6-4, 7-6 to move on in the Atlanta Open. 

Harrison's serve seemed to be overpowering Kudla, who was handled quickly in the first set. He exerted a lot of energy just trying to return Harrison's starter. 

In the next two sets, Kudla saved some of that energy, as Harrison recorded 11 aces in that span, but he fought back and won the next two sets. He discussed the conditions in Atlanta with On The Go Tennis:

Kudla also managed to overcome five double-faults; his service was pretty tough to handle as well. He managed to win 40 of 51 first service points on the afternoon.

Another American waits for Kudla as he takes on third-ranked Jack Sock. It is just one of 11 matches as the first round is wrapped up and the second round begins in the singles tournament, while the doubles tournament continues to heat up down in Atlanta.
