WWE SummerSlam 2015: Feuds That Will Increase Excitement for Event

Aaron BowerJul 28, 2015

After a hit-and-miss Battleground 2015, SummerSlam is in desperate need of some feuds that will get fans excited.

A disappointing end to the match between John Cena and Kevin Owens has left that feud all but over, and there were other bouts that didn't quite deliver at Battleground.

But there are some feuds taking shape that will give fans plenty to look forward to when it comes to one of the biggest shows of the year.

Kevin Owens vs. Cesaro

The ending of Owens' match with Cena left their feud with pretty much nowhere to go, a disappointing outcome for Owens.

It would have been great to see a fourth meeting between the two at SummerSlam, culminating in Owens' winning the United States Championship and keeping the hype surrounding that title going.

But as it turns out, Owens will be feuding with someone else, with the likely candidate being Cesaro.

They would have been great in a championship rivalry, but WWE fans will have to settle for the two fighting for pride at SummerSlam. However, that's not a bad thing, and it will certainly be one of the standout matches of the night.

They've gradually been on a collision course over the past few weeks, and judging by Owens' actions toward Cesaro on Raw this past week, the rivalry certainly has huge potential.

You can go beyond their recent history in WWE to see how exciting this feud could be too. They've met on several occasions in the past before joining forces in WWE, and it has all the hallmarks of another quality feud for Owens' career with the company.

They're both impressive workers inside the ring; Owens has, as we all know, brought the very best out of John Cena in recent months, and that's a statement that can also be applicable to Cesaro in his bouts with Cena.

Should they be given the appropriate amount of time to build this feud, with a four-hour show in store at SummerSlam, it could arguably steal the show.

The Undertaker vs. Brock Lesnar

OK, so Undertaker isn't in the finest shape of his career, but the excitement level surrounding his upcoming match with Brock Lesnar will still be incredibly high.

Why? Largely due to the fact that they're two of the biggest stars of their generation, and after Lesnar's shock victory at WrestleMania 30, you were left with the feeling they were going to meet again.

The shock factor surrounding Undertaker's return at Battleground gave the feud another notch of excitement, too, and if you needed another reason to get excited, there was their epic brawl last week on Raw.

But above all else, there's the factor of unpredictability: We genuinely don't know who will come out on top. There's the feeling Undertaker will avenge the loss he suffered at WrestleMania 30 at some point, but whether it's here or later down the line is up in the air.

Handing a rare defeat to Lesnar (and it would be rare, given how he hasn't been pinned in over two years) would have big ramifications for his future, so the uncertainty that lingers around this bout creates plenty of hype all on its own.
