How Much Did Patrick Mahomes Injury Shift Chiefs vs. Titans Spread? Latest NFL Odds

It turns out the Kansas City Chiefs are much better with Patrick Mahomes under center than Gardner Minshew.

Just ask Las Vegas.

According to DraftKings Sportsbook as of Tuesday at 6 p.m. ET, the Chiefs are 3.5-point favorites over the Tennessee Titans for Sunday's game. 

Michael David Smith of Pro Football Talk noted the line was previously 11.5 points but decreased by a full eight points after Mahomes suffered a torn ACL during the Chiefs' loss to the Los Angeles Chargers.

What's more, the over-under is 37.5 for the upcoming game, which is the lowest in the NFL for the week.

Such a low over-under is anything but surprising. After all, the Titans are 2-12 and 31st in the league in points per game. And the Chiefs will be operating with Minshew instead of Mahomes and as a team that was eliminated from playoff contention with their latest loss.

Minshew entered the game against the Chargers after Mahomes' injury and went 3-of-5 for 22 yards, zero touchdowns and one interception. It was anything but an encouraging performance, and now he has to go on the road in a game that is only meaningful for draft positioning.

It is a testament to how much the Titans have struggled this season that they are still underdogs by more than a field goal at home against a team with its backup quarterback under center.

But that point spread is much lower than it would have been with a healthy Mahomes.
