MJF Makes History Winning AEW Title vs. Samoa Joe, Swerve, Page at 2025 Worlds End

MJF beat Samoa Joe, "Hangman" Adam Page and Swerve Strickland in a four-way match at Worlds End on Saturday to win the AEW World Championship.

At Full Gear last month, Joe shockingly beat Page in a steel cage match thanks largely to help from Hook. With that victory, Joe became only the fourth multi-time world champion in AEW history.

Joe and The Opps launched an attack against Page after the match, leading to the surprise return of Strickland, who had been out of action for three months due to a knee injury.

Hangman and Swerve were once arguably among the most heated rivals in AEW history, although their relationship changed when Strickland helped Page beat Jon Moxley for the world title at All In.

Coming out of Full Gear, Page and Strickland maintained their alliance to some degree, as they beat Opps members Powerhouse Hobbs and Katsuyori Shibata in a tag team match on the Winter Is Coming edition of Dynamite.

On the Dec. 13 episode of Collision, Page made his intentions clear, announcing that he wanted a rematch with Joe for the AEW world title at Worlds End.

During that same show, Strickland won a hard-fought match against Josh Alexander, and he cut a promo afterward during which he declared himself the top contender for the world championship.

With both Hangman and Swerve staking a legitimate claim to being world title worthy, they were both granted a shot at Joe.

However, a wrench was thrown into the plans when MJF returned on the Dec. 17 episode of Dynamite and cashed in his Casino Gauntlet contract to make it a four-way title match at Worlds End.

MJF's first AEW world title reign ended at the hands of Joe, giving him plenty of incentive to try to take the AEW World Championship away from him this time around.

MJF did precisely that, becoming the fifth two-time AEW world champion in company history in the process.
