Junior Galette Signs 1-Year Deal with Redskins
Former New Orleans Saints pass-rusher Junior Galette was officially released Monday, but it didn't take long for him to find a new home, as the Washington Redskins signed him to a one-year deal Friday, per his agent Alvin Keels.
ESPN's Adam Schefter was the first to report the deal.
On Thursday, Albert Breer of NFL Network reported Galette met with Redskins officials, took a physical and stayed overnight in Richmond.

It is unconfirmed at this point why the Saints chose to cut ties with Galette, although it may have been due to his off-the-field behavior. In June, he was alleged to feature in a YouTube video showing a man striking a woman with a belt during a beach brawl, though his lawyer denied it was him in the video.
He was previously charged with domestic violence from a January incident, but that case was ultimately dismissed.
After racking up a total of 22 sacks between the 2013 and 2014 seasons, the expectation is that Galette will be given another chance in the NFL, but he knows he'll have to make some sacrifices, according to Lyons Yellin of WWL-TV on July 28:
The Saints signed Galette to a four-year contract extension in September, but that didn't stop them from cutting ties with the undrafted player. The result is a great deal of lost money from New Orleans' perspective, per Breer:
Even though the former Temple University standout received a large chunk of the money owed to him, he was extremely critical of the Saints organization after his release, as he told Evan Woodbery of NOLA.com:
"(It was) the worst call they've ever made," Galette said. "It was a terrible call to kick me when I'm down."
Teams are wary of players with alleged involvement in domestic violence situations since such crimes are very much under the microscope currently.
Galette has proven himself to be a top-notch pass-rusher on the field over the past two seasons, but now he has to prove he can be a model citizen off of it. If he can do that, the upside he presents for Washington's defense is considerable as they look to have a solid season in the NFC East.
