Jayden Daniels Injured, Latest Updates on Commanders Star After Being Carted Off vs. Cowboys

Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels suffered another early-season injury in Sunday's game against the Dallas Cowboys and was ruled out of the game.

Daniels suffered an elbow injury right before halftime while the Commanders were on the Cowboys' goal line. Clarence Hill Jr. of All City DLLS reported that he had to be carted off the field.

When Fox analyst Tom Brady saw a replay of the injury, he said on the live broadcast, "Oh s--t. Excuse me. Was not expecting to see that."

Daniels dealt with a difficult 2025 season that saw him play just seven games due to injury.

In Week 2, Daniels suffered a left knee sprain against the Green Bay Packers. He finished the game but missed the next two weeks.

In Week 7, Daniels sustained a right hamstring injury in a third quarter his team's matchup with the Dallas Cowboys. He left the game, got ruled out and missed one more week.

In Week 9, Daniels suffered a scary injury when he was sacked and got his left arm twisted in the wrong direction during a game against the Seattle Seahawks. Thankfully, an ailment that appeared to be far worse at first turned out to be a dislocated left elbow. The injury was still serious, of course, but he returned after missing three games.

Unfortunately, in Week 14 at the Minnesota Vikings, Daniels suffered a re-aggravation of the left elbow injury.

He sat the team's next game at the New York Giants on Dec. 14. One day later, the Commanders decided to rule him out for their final three games.

For the season, Daniels completed 60.6 percent of his passes for 1,262 yards, eight touchdowns and three interceptions while adding 278 rushing yards and two scores.

It was a tough year for Daniels, but as he's shown, the 2023 Heisman Trophy winner is capable of greatness. In his rookie season, Daniels led the Commanders to 14 wins (including playoffs) and the team's first NFC Championship Game appearance since 1991. During the regular season, he accounted for 31 total touchdowns (25 passing, six rushing) and 4,459 total yards (891 rushing).

Without Daniels, the Commanders will turn to Marcus Mariota. The former Oregon star and 11-year veteran, who the Tennessee Titans selected second in the 2015 NFL draft, has previously performed admirably in Daniels' absence.
