Fresh Chris Jericho Rumors on Potential 2026 Retirement, WWE Return After Cena's Tour
Chris Jericho has been rumored to be nearing retirement from his legendary in-ring career, and many are wondering if he could spend his final year in WWE.
However, it sounds like Jericho is planning to stick around in the business for a while longer, as Fightful Select's Sean Ross Sapp said during a Q&A (h/t Steve Carrier of Ringside News) that he's been told directly that "he is not done wrestling right now."
Jericho hasn't appeared in AEW since April, leading many to believe that his run with the company has come to an end. Sapp affirmed that Jericho's partnership appears to have run its course, but he'd be welcomed back to WWE with open arms.
"I believe his time with AEW right now is just over and has reached — they've squeezed all the juice out of that one that they can," Sapp said. "It's not that way in WWE. I think the crowd will react the way that WWE wants them to for this tour."
If Jericho is planning to retire, Sapp said there would be no issue from WWE to give him a retirement tour the same way it did John Cena, who ended his iconic career this past Saturday.
"I don't think that would prevent WWE from bringing him back," Sapp said, further adding that there's more creative potential available for Jericho with his old company. "... I think it's a better fit right now. I think it's a better pace right now. And I think that there is more creatively for him to do — especially considering the ties to TNA and AAA, of which he has also not performed in."
Still, Sapp made it clear that nothing is set in stone for the 55-year-old as of yet.
"I mean, it's always possible with him that he does a retirement tour and then does an honest-to-God retirement match in AEW afterward," he said. "Like, anything's possible with him."
