Amir Rasul to FSU: Seminoles Land 4-Star RB Prospect
Although Florida State has put together one of the strongest 2016 recruiting classes in college football, the Seminoles lacked an elite-level running back to round out the group. That changed Monday with the addition of Amir Rasul.
According to 247Sports' Ryan Bartow, Rasul committed to the 'Noles.
"I felt FSU is the best place for me," he said. "Both coach (Jimbo) Fisher and coach Tim Brewster were very excited when I told them. I see myself as the same type of player that Dalvin Cook is. I can add to that and take over when he leaves."
Rasul is the seventh-best running back in 247Sports' composite rankings. He also ranks 197th overall.
This development comes mere days after he decommitted from the Miami Hurricanes. Chris Nee of Noles247.com believed Rasul was bound to commit his future to Florida State sooner or later:
Rasul should become a dynamic presence in the Seminoles backfield once he lands in Tallahassee. He earned a perfect "10" rating on 247Sports in speed and an "8" in explosiveness. Running through tackles will be a bit of an issue, but he's agile enough to consistently make defenders miss.
Since Florida State uses a more pro-style offense, there's no question Rasul would have plenty of opportunities to shine. And he's the exact kind of running back to complement the Seminoles' passing game.
Snatching a player out from under the Hurricanes also has to be a good feeling for Fisher since it further strengthens FSU's recruiting position in the state of Florida.
