Shedeur Sanders Reacts to Historic Matchup vs. 2024 No. 1 Pick Caleb Williams

Andrew PetersDec 14, 2025

After a veteran-like performance last against the Tennessee Titans, Shedeur Sanders looked more like a rookie quarterback on Sunday.

The Cleveland Browns quarterback, who made his fourth start on Sunday, threw for 177 yards and three interceptions on 18-of-35 passing in a 31-3 loss to the Chicago Bears.

"I would like to have the majority of the plays back, for sure," Sanders told reporters after the loss. "They did a good job in doing what they're coached in doing. Shoutout to their defensive coordinator. They did a lot of great stuff."

While it was a rough showing from Sanders, he knows that he can't allow it to dictate how he plays next week.

"You can lose your job at any time. You don't play with fear," he said. "When you live and play in fear, you'll never be yourself. I don't play or live in fear. Whatever situation I'm in, I'm in. Whatever happens happens. But I live each moment and try to live each day to the fullest."

Sanders, a fifth-round pick, made his debut in November, filling in for a concussed Dillon Gabriel. After performing well in his first start, he was named QB1 for the Browns.

He's been good overall, considering he's just a rookie and was thrust into action midway through the season. Sanders' best performance thus far came last week against the Titans, when he threw for 364 yards and three touchdowns plus another score on the ground.

Obviously, it's a bit unfair to expect those kinds of performance from Sanders week in and week out, and Sunday's game was a good reminder that he still has plenty of work to do.
