Where He Wins
2 of 5
- Hemby is a tough downhill and one-cut runner. He executes zone runs effectively, with good vision and quick processing. Identifies hard and soft edges and adjusts his run path accordingly.
- The Hoosier's leading rusher possesses enough acceleration to win the edge and get to the outside of the defense. Hemby is more of a long strider than a true sprinter, but his top-end speed is serviceable.
- He hits the running lanes and gaps with purpose and strength. He displays balance through contact and keeps his legs churning.
- Hemby does a good job protecting the football. He rarely puts the ball in harm's way or on the ground.
Areas of Improvement
3 of 5
- Hemby is not an elusive, "make-you-miss" runner. Do not expect him to make defenders miss in a phone booth.
- Plays with an upright running style. He creates a bigger strike zone for defenders closing in.
- Finding consistency in pass protection. He needs to improve his formation scanning and his ability to identify the appropriate threat based on pass-protection rules for the offensive scheme. When facing simulated pressures, communicate and pick up the free runner.
- The Hoosiers' leading rusher offers a low ceiling as a pass catcher. Hemby does not run an expanded route tree out of the backfield to be deployed as a weapon in the passing game.
