Jadeveon Clowney Injury: Updates on Texans Star's Recovery from Knee Surgery

Matt FitzgeraldJul 27, 2015

Houston Texans linebacker Jadeveon Clowney had an injury-plagued rookie season and began 2015 training camp on the physically unable to perform list. He did not play in the preseason but is active for the team's regular-season opener against Kansas City.

On Sept. 10, Jason Cole of Bleacher Report passed along what he was hearing regarding how the Texans will use Clowney for the team's Week 1 matchup:

Clowney discussed how it felt to be back in practice as well, per the team's official Twitter account, Deepi Sidhu and Drew Dougherty of the team's offical site:

In December, Clowney underwent microfracture knee surgery, the second operation on the 2014 No. 1 pick's right knee since the start of the 2014 season. His initial estimated recovery timeline was nine months. Clowney can begin practicing as soon as the Texans activate him, according to ESPN's Adam Caplan.

He appeared in just four games for Houston as a rookie and made seven tackles with zero sacks.

The former South Carolina college star has the potential to be a dynamic playmaker—health permitting—on a Texans front seven that features reigning Defensive Player of the Year J.J. Watt.
