Jalen Ramsey Rips 'Bulls--t' Chants from Steelers Fans Calling for Mike Tomlin Firing

Jalen Ramsey criticized Pittsburgh Steelers fans who called for the dismissal of coach Mike Tomlin during his team's last home game.

Chants of "fire Tomlin" were audible at Acrisure Stadium on Nov. 30 as the Steelers' record dropped to 6-6 with a 26-7 loss to the Buffalo Bills.

"Me, personally, I thought the chants were bulls--t," Ramsey said Saturday (h/t ESPN's Brooke Pyror). "I mean, that's comical, in my mind. That's all I'll say about that."

After improving to 7-6 on the road last weekend, the Steelers are preparing to return home Monday for a Week 15 matchup with the Miami Dolphins.

Tomlin said after the game he understood why fans had called for his dismissal after the blowout.

"Man, I share their frustration tonight," Tomlin said after the loss to the Bills (h/t The Athletic's Mike DeFabo). "We didn't do enough. That's just the reality of it."

Ramsey, however, brought up his past postseason experience when asked about the chants.

The cornerback won a Super Bowl with the Los Angeles Rams in 2021. Outside of that run, he's played in three postseasons during his prior nine seasons.

"It's tough. It's the NFL. Any type of success you can get there, you cling on to it," Ramsey said.

The Week 14 road win was a crucial division victory over the Baltimore Ravens that allowed Pittsburgh to recover the AFC North lead.

The Steelers can now up their odds of making the playoffs to 74 percent with a home win over the Dolphins, per NFL Next Gen Stats.

Getting into the postseason likely won't be enough to solve fan discontent in Pittsburgh.

The Steelers have made the playoffs in five of the last eight years, but have not recorded a single postseason win over that span. Fans haven't seen a playoff win at Acrisure since January 2017.

Pittsburgh, a franchise historically opposed to mid-year coaching turnover, is not going to fire Tomlin during his 19th season with the team, ESPN's Adam Schefter reported last week.

Schefter added, however, that the Steelers have to decide by March 1 whether to pick up Tomlin's option for 2027.

Should the Steelers finally snap the playoff win drought this winter, Tomlin could make a better case not just for fan support but for Pittsburgh to commit to another two seasons with him on the sideline.
