DeVonta Smith Backs Jalen Hurts, Says Eagles Are 'In A Good Spot' Despite Struggles

Julia StumbaughDec 13, 2025

DeVonta Smith feels the Philadelphia Eagles are in a "good spot" despite losing three straight games heading into Week 15.

The Eagles are still on top of the NFC East with an 8-5 record, although the 6-6-1 Dallas Cowboys sit 1.5 games behind with four contests remaining in the season.

"I feel like we're alright. We're in a good spot," Smith told reporters Friday.

When asked if there were any positives from the three-game losing streak he could apply going forward, Smith answered, "I mean, we're not shooting ourselves in the foot. We operate pretty well."

Smith added that he felt the Eagles offense had a good "tempo" in their Week 14 overtime loss to the Los Angeles Chargers on Monday.

"I feel like we operated faster, got in and out of the huddle pretty good," Smith said.

Smith made four catches on eight targets for a team-high 28 yards in the loss to the Chargers, during which Eagles star quarterback Jalen Hurts committed a career-high five turnovers.

Eagles coach Nick Sirianni said after the game it was "ridiculous" to ask if the team was considering benching Hurts after his overtime interception ended the game.

Smith, who said the quarterback seemed like the "same Jalen" heading into Week 15, seemed to feel the same.

"You don't just sit there and beat yourself up over things like that. In this game, stuff like that happens," Smith said. "Everybody's gonna have a game where they're down. You tell me somebody that you know that don't have games like that."

The Eagles are preparing to kick off against the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday afternoon at 1 p.m. ET.

A bounce-back performance from Hurts against the Raiders, as well as a Cowboys loss to the Minnesota Vikings later that night, would help keep Philadelphia on track to win the division.
