BS Meter on LA Knight's 2026 Plans, Latest on WWE's Mystery Attacker, More Rumors
The pro wrestling rumor mill's time is now, it seems.
Standard speculation and rumblings around WWE, added to John Cena's big finale over the weekend, have created a monster of a rumor mill.
Keeping pace is no easy task. It's not just an extra major PLE date because of Saturday Night's Main Event. This is the time of year when WWE starts rolling out the pathways to next year's Royal Rumble and WrestleMania.
Case in point, the rumor mill features big names and suggested plans for the likes of LA Knight, Bron Breakker, Cody Rhodes and Drew McIntyre, to name a few. Never mind the surging intrigue around the masked attacker who keeps getting in the mix around main event stars right now.
To help fans keep pace with all the buzz, here's a look at the top rumors under the spotlight of a BS Meter, with 10 being the highest form of unbelievable buzz fans can safely dismiss.
Masked Mystery Man Buzz
1 of 5
The Rumor
The masked-man stuff started slow but is picking up steam in a hurry. According to Bryan Alvarez (h/t Randall Ortman of Cageside Seats), WWE is trying to throw off fans by letting multiple people stand in as the masked attacker. In another report, Alvarez (h/t Ortman) said he's been told the attacker isn't Montez Ford.
Reaction
The masked attacker saga started at Survivor Series and felt like a flop. But the run-in earned some speculation about it being Seth Rollins, or somebody helping him, if not The Vision. Since then, especially on the most recent addition of Raw, the attacker's appearance has certainly seemed to change.
BS Meter: 1
Believable as it gets. Screenshots comparing the PLE attack and the weekly broadcast attacker seem to show physical differences. And it's just smart business on WWE's part to mix it up and keep its options open as this storyline develops.
LA Knight Written off Television?
2 of 5
The Rumor
A recent beatdown suffered by LA Knight looked like a write-off of television. But according to Fightful Select (h/t Ortman), the assault was "a standard story beat" and nothing more.
Reaction
The report specifically goes on to say Knight has plenty of time left on his WWE contract, for what it's worth. But the Vision beatdown did feel like the typical injury angle promotions roll out before a Superstar misses a chunk of time, which explains their absence.
BS Meter: 3
Maybe in hindsight, a Knight absence makes this look silly. But it's hard to see why he would suddenly go missing in action from television, barring something outsiders don't know about. He's a key part of the programming, and it's easy to see how this could simply be part of the story.
Cody Rhodes Plans?
3 of 5
The Rumor
Don't look now, but Cody Rhodes and Drew McIntyre could be on a collision course yet again. According to BodySlam.net (h/t Ortman), not only are the two Superstars going to have a match again, but the next one will also boast "significant storyline implications for both men."
Reaction
These two are top main eventers, so it only makes sense that they will link up again. But at the same time, the fatigue over this match is real. They've fought at WrestlePalooza, SmackDown and a SNME since mid-August. It's…been a lot.
BS Meter: 5
Call this one even. WWE can't help but have these two get after each other again. Whether the next one will actually have big implications feels like a 50-50, though. One has to think the Royal Rumble weighs heavier than anything else on Rhodes' future plans.
Breakker…Next Big Thing?
4 of 5
The Rumor
The "next big thing" stuff for Bron Breakker continues. According to Bodyslam.net (h/t Ortman), WWE has him in that Roman Reigns bracket as a "next true big star" capable of leading the promotion for a long time.
Reaction
No kidding, right? Fans have had Breakker tabbed as that for a long time now. WWE has been giving The Badass his shot in recent weeks, headlining heartfelt promotions despite Paul Heyman being right there behind him.
BS Meter: 1
Easiest call of the week. There's no stopping this. The injury to Seth Rollins might have accelerated plans faster than WWE wanted, but it's pretty clear Breakker is handling it just fine and will occupy that Reigns slot.
LA Knight…Top Star?
5 of 5
The Rumor
Back to LA Knight…is he finally going to get a big run? According to Bodyslam.net (h/t Ortman), WWE has eyes on a long run for The Megastar as a top guy in 2026.
Reaction
Some vocal portions of the fanbase have been unhappy with Knight's run in WWE over the last year or so, mostly because they view him as a guy worthy of a main event belt. But the counterweight is the fact that the 43-year-old has consistently been in and around the main event scene and in massive spots, even with John Cena.
BS Meter: 9
Smells fishy. If we're viewing this as a "top title or bust" situation, it's hard to see Knight taking a belt off the likes of Rhodes or CM Punk. If WWE hasn't made it happen already and he's still as popular as ever, why would it go out of its way to do it now? Knight feels like he's forever stuck in purgatory. He could be doing much worse, though.
