Philip Rivers Jokes About His Weight on Video After Signing Colts Contract
After ending his retirement to return to the Indianapolis Colts, veteran quarterback Philip Rivers knows he might not be in the best of shape at the moment.
During his introductory press conference on Wednesday, Rivers was asked about his current weight and he candidly responded, "I'm not sure. How bout that?" before further clarifying that it's "not what it was when I walked off the field in Buffalo" for his last game in 2020.

After turning 44 years old on Monday, Rivers came off the couch for a workout with the Colts on Tuesday and signed with their practice squad. Indianapolis was in dire need of stabilizing the quarterback position after Daniel Jones' season-ending torn Achilles and Riley Leonard's knee injury that has him considered week to week.
The last time Rivers was on an active roster, he started all 16 games for the Colts in 2020 and led them to an 11-5 record as well as a spot in the playoffs, where they lost to the Buffalo Bills in the AFC Wild Card Round. Five years later, he's now a grandfather, and he's being tasked with carrying Indianapolis to the postseason once again.
The Colts started the 2025 season with much promise, winning seven of their first eight games. However, they've lost four of their last five to fall to 8-5 this season, and losing Jones for the rest of the year was a major blow to their hopes of contending for a spot in the Super Bowl.
While Rivers knows his lack of mobility could be a hindrance when he returns to the field, he sounded confident that he can still be an effective quarterback despite his age.
"I ain't ran away from anybody, anyway. People say, 'Well, they know you're gonna be right there.' And it's like, they've known that for 16, 17 years," Rivers said.
