NFL Announces Return to Munich For International Series Games on 2026, 2028 Schedules

Mike ChiariDec 10, 2025

The NFL is set to continue its recent biannual tradition of playing regular-season games in Munich, Germany.

According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, the league announced Wednesday that it will return to Munich for games in 2026 and 2028 as part of a "multi-year partnership with the City of Munich and FC Bayern Munich."

The NFL previously held games at Bayern Munich's Allianz Arena in 2022 and 2024, and at least one NFL game has been played in Germany every year since 2022.

When the NFL made its first trip to Germany for a regular-season game in 2022, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers beat the Seattle Seahawks 21-16.

The second game in Munich, which took place last season, saw the Carolina Panthers defeat the New York Giants 20-17 in overtime.

Additionally, two games were played in Frankfurt in 2023, and this season, the Indianapolis Colts scored a 31-25 overtime win over the Atlanta Falcons in Berlin.

The NFL began holding yearly regular-season games in England in 2007, but over the years, the league's global footprint has expanded significantly, which has seen several other countries incorporated into the International Series as well.

Along with England and Germany, NFL games have taken place in Mexico, Brazil, Ireland and Spain.

Rapoport noted that in addition to the NFL returning to Munich next year, there will be two games in London at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and a game in Rio De Janeiro at the Maracanã Stadium.

Also, Australia will host its first NFL regular-season game when the Los Angeles Rams serve as the home team for a contest at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.

The teams involved in the 2026 Munich game have yet to be announced, but every NFL regular-season tilt played in Germany thus far has been a one-score game, which suggests it could come down to the wire once again.
