Will Philip Rivers Play For Colts vs. Seahawks? Latest Rumors on QB After Contract
Philip Rivers' NFL comeback might actually get underway mere days after he reunited with the Indianapolis Colts, according to ESPN's Stephen Holder and Jeremy Fowler.
"The Colts originally were scheduled for a walk-through on Wednesday, but that was changed on Tuesday when they announced plans for a formal practice," the NFL insiders said. "Sources maintain that how Rivers handles his first week of practice will determine whether he plays Sunday."

Signing Rivers in the first place is a sign of the Colts' desperation. Daniel Jones and Anthony Richardson Sr. are both unavailable due to injuries, while Riley Leonard's status is in flux as well.
Actually putting the 44-year-old on the field against the Seattle Seahawks would be a stunning development.
Calling Rivers rusty doesn't go far enough. He hasn't appeared in an NFL game since January 2021, and he was out of the game long enough to be eligible for the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
Playing the Seahawks on the road could be a recipe for disaster as well.
Seattle ranks fourth in sacks (41) and opponent passer rating (77.3). The team is fresh off a 37-9 win over the Atlanta Falcons in which Kirk Cousins finished 15-of-30 for 162 yards and two interceptions.
Holder and Fowler reported a general belief within the Colts is that Rivers "can still spin it," and one source argued he's better than a lot of younger backups in the league.
Still, one person with Indy conceded the eight-time Pro Bowler "needs to get in football shape," which is suboptimal when there are four weeks left in the regular season.
The Colts obviously need somebody to play quarterback and their options are limited at this point in the year. Bringing Rivers out of retirement feels like an attempt to be a little too clever.
