Sydney Sweeney Reveals Diet Used to Gain 35 Pounds for 'Christy' Role on Video
Actress Sydney Sweeney overhauled her diet in order to approximate the physique of Christy Martin for the biopic about the Hall of Fame boxer.
Sweeney told Sports Illustrated she gained around 35 pounds, which was achieved through drinking milkshakes and protein shakes along with "eating like three burgers for one meal":
The 28-year-old's commitment to her role in Christy wasn't limited to her dietary habits. She told Sportscasting's David Evans in November she went through daily training prior to filming.
"For about two and a half months, I would weight train in the morning for an hour, box three hours in the middle of the day, and then another hour of weight training at night," she said.
Sweeney added she discovered a passion for boxing through the process.
"There was a moment in the middle of filming where I was like, 'Should I give it all up and fight because I love this?'" she said.
Alas, it doesn't look like Sweeney is quitting her day job anytime soon.
