What Is DK Metcalf's Injury Status for Steelers vs. Dolphins This Week?

Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin is expecting to have wide receiver DK Metcalf in Week 15 against the Miami Dolphins.

Tomlin told reporters Tuesday that Metcalf, who experienced stomach pains after the 27-22 win over the Baltimore Ravens, is "moving in the right direction."

"I don't think it's going to jeopardize his availability at all, but it certainly may jeopardize his availability at the early portions of the week from a practice standpoint," the coach said. "Thankfully, he's fine. I'm appreciative of our medical staff and how quickly they acted and making sure that he was safe and taking care of him postgame."

Metcalf was Pittsburgh's leading receiver in Week 14, catching seven passes for 148 yards.

The two-time Pro Bowler boarded the team plane Sunday night before experiencing abdominal distress. He was removed and taken to a local hospital for further observation.

Tomlin followed up to explain Metcalf took a hit to the midsection during the game and received "some basic over-the-counter remedies" on the sideline. Those didn't fully do the trick in resolving the situation.

Pittsburgh will need the 6'4" pass-catcher because next Monday's matchup with the Dolphins is looking more challenging than it did a little over a month ago, when the scrutiny on head coach Mike McDaniel was hitting a fever pitch. During Miami's four-game winning streak, the defense has allowed an average of 212.8 passing yards.

Even with the receiving corps at full strength, quarterback Aaron Rodgers won't have an easy day. Take Metcalf out of the mix and it would be a massive blow for the offense.
