Could 44-Year-Old Philip Rivers Really Sign with Colts? Latest Rumors on QB's Return
The Indianapolis Colts shocked the masses when the news broke that they were bringing in former NFL quarterback Philip Rivers for a workout on Tuesday, but an alum feels the 44-year-old is set for a return to the league.
ESPN's Adam Schefter reported on Tuesday that Rivers will sign a practice squad contract with the Colts.
Pat McAfee, who spent his entire NFL career with the Colts, had previously reported that his "source(s)" said that "all indications are pointing towards" Rivers being "announced as the Colts QB at some point today."

McAfee added that Colts quarterback Daniel Jones "will be getting surgery on his Achilles this afternoon." Jones tore his Achilles in Sunday's 36-19 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars, which ended his stellar season and extended Indianapolis' losing streak to three straight games.
Following Jones' injury, ESPN's Adam Schefter reported that Colts backup quarterback Riley Leonard is considered "week to week" due to a strained knee ligament, and the team is "uncertain" if he'll be able to play in Sunday's game against the Seattle Seahawks.
Rivers hasn't played in the NFL since the 2020 season in which he led the Colts to an 11-5 record and a spot in the playoffs. The eight-time Pro Bowler is likely a future Hall of Famer, but fans were understandably puzzled by the news that he could be making a comeback.
Now, it appears as though he will be returning to the NFL.
