Amateur Golfer Loses Tournament, Still Gets to Go to Prom with Holly Sonders

Public figures conditioning their acceptance of promposals from fans is nothing new.

For athletes, the condition is often if the teen gets a certain (read: ridiculous) amount of retweets.

For Fox Sports golf personality Holly Sonders, the condition was if her suitor,ย Andrew Orischak, won theย U.S. Junior Amateur in South Carolina.

And with a five-hole lead in the final Saturday, it looked as though the 16-year-old golfer was going to get his date. However, he lost five of the remaining eight holes before dropping the extra hole toย Philip Barbaree.

But he didn't lose on all fronts.

After the final, Sonders tweetedย Orischak, saying she'd be happy to go with him to prom if the invitation stood:

"

And @AndrewOrischak....I'm happy to go to the 2015 prom with you if I'm still invited. Your mom has my phone number. @FOXSports @FOXSports1

"

@holly_sonders @FOXSports @FOXSports1 the first time I've smiled in the last couple hours... #bounceback

Let's just hope his mom didn't lose the number.
