Eagles' A.J. Brown Says He 'Wasn't Great When It Mattered,' Laments Drops vs. Chargers
Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver A.J. Brown took responsibility for multiple key drops he had in Monday's 22-19 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers.
Speaking to reporters after the game, Brown said he "wasn't great when it mattered" and the miscues were on plays that he normally makes.
"That last one in the end zone ... that one hurt the most," Brown said. "I'm more than capable of making those plays. I made some plays, but I wasn't great when it mattered."

Two of Brown's drops came on plays that could have ended in a touchdown for Philadelphia. The first came on the first offensive play from scrimmage when he got behind Chargers cornerback Tarheeb Still, but he couldn't corral the ball when it hit off his fingertips.
The second one was on the play he referenced in the end zone late in the fourth quarter with the score tied at 16 when Jalen Hurts dropped a dime to Brown that hit off his hands. His drop led to the Eagles settling for a field goal at the end of the drive and a three point lead, instead of a possible 23-16 advantage with just over two minutes remaining.
Brown had another drop on a ball that hit off his hands and floated in the air, allowing Cam Hart to intercept it. The Chargers took advantage of that turnover by getting a field goal to make it a 16-16 game.
Philadelphia (8-5) has now lost three straight games for the first time since the 2023 season. The defending Super Bowl champs still lead the NFC East, but they are only one game up in the loss column on the Dallas Cowboys (6-6-1) with four games remaining.
Brown finished with six catches for 100 yards against the Chargers, marking the third straight game he has hit the century mark. But the plays he didn't make really came back to bite the Eagles in a game they had multiple opportunities to win.
