The Case For John Cena to Win at SNME, LA Knight, Usos Trending Down, More Raw Fallout

Kevin BergeDec 9, 2025

The December 8 edition of Raw on Netflix featured the final words from Gunther ahead of challenging John Cena for his last match.

The Ring General promised to break The GOAT and ruin the festivities of a night meant to celebrate the veteran at the T-Mobile Center in Kansas City.

LA Knight also stepped back up to The Vision, in defense of Rey Mysterio. Thanks to a masked man, The Megastar lost to Logan Paul and was sent through a car by a Bronson Reed Tsunami.

Jey Uso revealed he and Jimmy Uso have decided to go back to tag team action, challenging The New Day as well as world tag team champions AJ Styles and Dragon Lee.

This was an eventful night despite missing multiple big stars, leaving more questions than answers as WWE closes in on the end of 2025.

John Cena Needs to Defeat Gunther in His Final Match

It is a long-held belief that wrestlers should always end their careers on their backs, putting another star over on their way out.

However, this is not the only way to retire. Some legends have gone out on top or at least ended their careers with a memorable win.

At WrestleMania 36, The Undertaker defeated AJ Styles in a cinematic-style Boneyard match before riding off into the sunset.

Sting ended his career in All Elite Wrestling completely undefeated, standing tall with the AEW World Tag Team Championships following a brutal final match at Revolution 2024.

John Cena is another veteran who could win his final match at Saturday Night's Main Event, rallying against the indomitable Gunther for one last "Super" victory.

The Ring General is a multiple-time world heavyweight champion and defeated Goldberg in his retirement match earlier this year.

WWE needs to find a way to differentiate those two retirement matches, and the easiest answer is a victory for Cena.

Gunther loses nothing in the end. The GOAT gives his fans a feel-good victory after already putting over Dominik Mysterio, Cody Rhodes and Brock Lesnar in the past few months.

This also would give the Austrian a reason to be frustrated on the road to WrestleMania, trying to avenge his loss without ever getting another shot at the man who defeated him.

WWE Admits Defeat by Putting The Usos Back Together

2 of 4

No one saw more highs and lows in 2025 than Jey Uso.

The winner of the men's Royal Rumble went on to dethrone world heavyweight champion Gunther by submission to open WrestleMania 41.

That victory was a temporary high as he dropped the title back to The Ring General in his third televised title defense.

Since then, Jey has faced criticism for his in-ring work and mic skills while failing to regain the world title despite several opportunities.

However, the exclamation mark on his fall is the announcement that he and Jimmy Uso will go back to focusing on the tag team division to end the year.

While there is still a chance this a temporary story, selling Jey's struggles with his confidence, all indications are that The Usos are back to tag team wrestling on a full-time basis.

The division does need The Usos, who instantly add an acclaimed team to a struggling roster, but Jey and Jimmy did not need to save the struggling division.

WWE has plenty of wrestlers outside the main title scene who could have been added to the tag team roster.

Instead, The Usos are back to square one, and this could easily be the end of Jey's attempt to establish himself away from his brother.

LA Knight's Booking Remains Frustratingly Inconsistent

On the road to Survivor Series: WarGames, all the babyfaces aligned to challenge The Vision's hold over WWE, except one.

Despite feuding with the faction since June when he moved to Raw and challenged Seth Rollins, setting up The Visionary's infamous fake ankle injury, LA Knight seemed to have been forgotten.

The man who was vying for a shot at the World Heavyweight Championship and exchanging verbal blows with CM Punk had barely been on TV.

It looked like Knight had been demoted if not flat-out punished by WWE for whatever reason.

Suddenly, that has changed. After losing in a memorable The Last Time is Now Tournament final with Gunther, The Megastar stepped back up to The Vision this week and suffered for it.

With no Punk in sight and The Usos changing their focus to tag team glory, Knight was the top face on Monday, which could mean a push is back on the menu going into 2026.

Knight would make sense as the first challenger to Bron Breakker if he dethrones Punk in January.

If WWE seriously sees him as a world champion, he could even take this all the way to WrestleMania 42 and win his first world championship.

Considering WWE's inconsistent booking, though, it's also possible he was just the only man available to put over The Vision this week.

The 43-year-old is one of WWE's most consistent in-ring workers and massively over with the crowd. He can cut promos with anyone in the company.

All signs should point to the top prize in the business, but it is all down to how WWE sees Knight. However, that view is frustratingly blurry at present.

WWE Must Deliver Big on Masked Man Reveal

4 of 4
Monday Night RAW

The biggest story in WWE right now is The Vision, carried by the rising status of Bron Breakker as well as a mysterious masked figure backing the group.

At this point, there is no obvious reason why they remain covered as the group continues to dominate with and without him.

However, mystery is one of wrestling's best storytelling devices. Fans can speculate for weeks on end about who is helping The Vision find success.

It could be a forgotten star returning from injury like Austin Theory, or it could be an NXT star about to get a rocket strapped to their back such as Trick Williams.

There is also a chance for WWE to deliver a big-name surprise, maybe even Logan Paul's brother, Jake Paul, who has teased working for the company in the past.

That last option would get backlash from fans, but it could be seen as a way to get fresh eyes on the product, given Jake's profile.

Ideally, this could be a spot for a star of the future who can use this chance to enter the main event scene for the long term.

The worst thing WWE can do is deliver an underwhelming reveal or make the mystery figure a mere grunt for the other members of The Vision.

This is a huge talking point for WWE that must be utilized properly to keep redefining its future.
