Jalen Hurts, Eagles Offense Ripped by NFL Fans After Loss to Justin Herbert, Chargers

Taylyn Hadley Dec 9, 2025

After a disastrous offensive battle between the Los Angeles Chargers and Philadelphia Eagles on Monday night, the Chargers came out on top with a 22-19 overtime win in Inglewood, California.

The Chargers scored first in overtime on a Cameron Dicker field goal before Tony Jefferson delivered a clutch interception to end it.

In the loss, Philadelphia's Jalen Hurts made history by committing two turnovers on the same play — throwing an interception that the Chargers fumbled on the return, recovering the loose ball himself and then fumbling again when he was hit.

Hurts finished with 240 yards, four interceptions, a fumble and no touchdowns. Saquon Barkley scored the team's lone touchdown, adding 122 rushing yards on 20 carries.

Both teams are chasing playoff berths, with the win improving the Chargers to 9-4 as they climb the AFC Wild Card standings. The Eagles fell to 8-5 but remain atop the NFC East and hold one of the conference's four division-leader playoff spots.

Meanwhile, Justin Herbert — battling through a fractured left hand that he had surgery on last Monday and taking a career-high number of sacks with seven — threw for 139 yards, one touchdown and interception with one lost fumble while completing 12-of-26 passes.

Fans reacted to Hurts' and the Eagles' continued offensive struggles after losing to an injured Herbert and the Los Angeles Chargers on the road.

The Eagles offense committed five turnovers in a lackluster showing, as Hurts threw more interceptions on Monday — four — than he had all season, entering the game with just two. The Chargers didn't fare much better behind an injured Herbert, committing three turnovers of their own.

Philadelphia has benefited from a struggling NFC East, with second-place Dallas sitting at 6-6 and two other teams already eliminated, opening the door for the Eagles to secure a playoff spot by leading the division at 8-5. Without that division lead, they would be sitting on the bubble in the Wild Card race.
