Chase Brown.
That's right, the Cincinnati Bengals' starting running back believes you—yes you!—could pick up a yard in the NFL if given four handoffs as long as the offensive line was doing its job up front.
"Yeah, I think they definitely could," he said when asked if an NFL fan could run for a yard during a discussion with NFL insider Jordan Schultz and NBA star Draymond Green. "If you get the right blocking up front and you just send 'em on some sort of gap scheme or you say, 'Yo, this is where it's going to hit.'
"… If it's just wide open, and it's like they're not getting touched. I mean, they're going to go for a yard. I think the scheme would be the biggest thing. Because if you told a normal person to go run mid-zone, I think they get lost and they run into the back of the o-line."
However, Brown made it clear that holding onto the ball and not fumbling when the defense made the tackle would be "a different story."
Average fans debating with each other whether they can accomplish certain tasks in professional sports is a tradition that is almost as established as the professional leagues themselves. Any fan who has watched a game with a group of friends or family members has surely pondered the question at some point.
And while hitting a Major League Baseball fastball or scoring against a locked-in NBA defender may still be completely unrealistic, at least fans can take solace knowing an NFL running back believes it is easily possible to pick up a yard on the ground.
But best of luck dealing with the tackle that is about to come after getting that yard.
