Patrick Mahomes, Chiefs Offense Called Out by NFL Fans for Struggles in Texans Loss

Andrew PetersDec 7, 2025

The Kansas City Chiefs were in must-win mode against the Houston Texans as they fight for a playoff spot, but quarterback Patrick Mahomes and the offense seemingly didn't get the memo as they lost 20-10.

The two-time MVP struggled in the first half against the Texans, posting just 58 passing yards on 8-of-12 passing. He also threw an interception on the Chiefs' first drive of the second quarter. Mahomes finished with 160 yards and three interceptions on 14-of-33 passing.

The Chiefs' ground game wasn't any better, as they had just 52 rushing yards heading into the break and finished with 126 yards on the ground.

Fans called out the rough offensive performance on social media.

The Chiefs' offense hasn't been quite as dominant this season as we've seen in the past, but they've been at least above average for most of the year. They came into Sunday's game ranked fourth in yards per game (374.8) and ninth in points per game (25.4), so the offensive struggles were a bit of a surprise.

But in the defense of Mahomes and Kansas City, they were already missing three offensive linemen coming into the game, and then lost left tackle Wanya Morris on the first play of the game.

Even historically great playmakers like Mahomes will struggle with that many key members of the line out.

It also adds insult to injury that the Chiefs were dealing with those key injuries while playing the NFL's best defense. The Texans came into Sunday's matchup ranked first in both yards allowed per game (265.7) and points allowed per game (16.5).

Kansas City's playoff hopes are essentially over with the loss, barring a late-season miracle, but a miracle won't happen if the offense can't figure things out.
