Brock Lesnar vs. Undertaker Will Exceed Expectations at WWE SummerSlam 2015

At the 2015 edition of the SummerSlam pay-per-view on August 23, former WWE world heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar will take on The Undertaker in one of the biggest matches in the recent history of the special event.

Anyone who appreciates the storied history of the wrestling business should believe the match between Lesnar and The Undertaker will exceed expectations.

As most WWE fans will never forget, it was Lesnar who broke The Undertaker’s undefeated WrestleMania streak, and The Deadman is back, looking for retribution. The first match at WrestleMania 30 was not technically great, but that can be attributed to a severe concussion The Undertaker suffered in the early stages of the matchup.

With neither man likely satisfied with how the match went down, the result should have both competitors leaving it all in the ring and putting on an incredible showcase of what makes these athletes so great.

The Undertaker has been in the business for a long time and knows exactly how to tell a convincing story, just like he has at WrestleMania for more than 20 years.

Lesnar also has the freakish strength and ruthless aggression needed to make this a two-way battle. Add the fact that Lesnar has proved time and time again that he is willing to sell for The Undertaker, and the match itself should top their WrestleMania 30 bout.

As far as storyline build goes, this SummerSlam match has already been built better thanks to an incredible pull-apart segment between Lesnar and The Undertaker on Raw. The two men showed their distaste for each other, and with good reason. After The Undertaker's streak was broken by Lesnar, he decided he wanted to take something important away from his foe and cost him the title match against Seth Rollins.

The result will be an in-ring war between Lesnar and The Undertaker that will undoubtedly deliver.

SummerSlam is the second-most important PPV of the year for WWE, and there are few people who understand the wrestling industry who will argue against the mainstream impact of another chapter in the Lesnar vs. Undertaker rivalry. Sports fans recognize Lesnar from his stint in the NFL or his UFC heavyweight title run, while The Undertaker has a genuine rapport with any wrestling fan from the last two decades. This is a notable matchup WWE can easily sell to casual fans.

One reason this match should excite hardcore fans is that it was relatively unexpected. Besides a few reports claiming that The Undertaker would show up, this was something most people did not expect. The element of surprise can take a great storyline and make it something the WWE Universe never forgets. Depending on how this match shakes out, though, it could go down as one of the coolest spontaneous moments of the last several years.

Another positive of The Undertaker’s return is that the WWE Universe finally gets a conclusion to the long-term storyline between these two men. The feud extends all the way back to 2002, when they first met. Add a staredown following Lesnar's UFC fight in 2010, and this rivalry has lasted over a decade.

The match at SummerSlam will likely be their last and thus should be a suitable conclusion to a marquee storyline. Even if WWE doesn’t want to give wrestling fans a clean finish, the stage has been set for possible interference if needed.

Whether it’s Sting or Rollins interfering or even just a clean pinfall finish, the match between Lesnar and The Undertaker at the 2015 SummerSlam has the ability to exceed the expectations of the WWE Universe.
