Raiders Player Rips Team's Direction, 'Don't Think Anyone Knows' Plan to Fix Issues

Julia StumbaughDec 6, 2025

At least one Las Vegas Raiders player is reportedly unconvinced his team knows how to turn things around after a 2-10 start to the 2025 season.

"I really don't know what the plan is. I don't think anyone knows," a Raiders player told The Athletic's Dianna Russini when asked how he felt about the future of his team.

Figuring out what the Raiders' next step is after missing the playoffs could depend at least in part on minority owner Tom Brady, who joined the organization last year with the hope of providing some stability after years of postseason disappointments and high coaching turnover.

The former New England Patriots and Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback led the committee that hired head coach Pete Carroll and general manager John Spytek ahead of the 2025 season.

Russini also previously reported that Brady had been a "big advocate" of signing former offensive coordinator Chip Kelly to a multi-year contract.

The Athletic's Michael Silver reported that Brady was "not in favor" of the team bringing in Seattle Seahawks quarterback Sam Darnold. The franchise ultimately turned to Geno Smith instead.

Those decisions have yet to pan out. The Raiders fired Kelly after 11 games and are heading into Week 14 ranked 30th in total offense.

Smith is meanwhile tied for the league lead with 14 interceptions, while Spytek's 2025 draft class has gotten limited playing opportunities so far in Carroll's first season with the franchise.

Raiders owner Mark Davis said on a September episode of Raiders: Talk of the Nation that he sees Brady as "the one now to take this organization into the future on the football side."

Brady may need to help the Raiders both make some key leadership decisions, as well as communicate that plan to the locker room, in order to restore confidence in the franchise's direction ahead of the 2026 campaign.
